VietCorps is active in working on various projects to help poor and disadvantaged individuals and communities in Vietnam. Over the past several years, we have provided both financial and non-financial gifts to worthy causes, including orphanages and schools in high-need areas in Vietnam. Our charitable/donation activities and work efforts are done entirely on a volunteer basis by our members. Our overhead rate is zero –i.e., 100 percent of the donations that we receive go directly to those in need. Our charitable giving has included the following:
- In October 2021, we made a monetary donation to a food assistance program run by VNHelp (www.vnhelp.org) to assist with food shortage in Vietnam due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
- In December 2021, we donated monetary gifts to three orphanages in Vietnam: (1) Mai Am Hy Vong Vincente in Quang Binh Province; (2) Dieu Phap Orphanage in Dong Nai Province; and (3) Xuan Tam Orphanage in Dong Nai Province.
- In the summer of 2022, VietCorps members travelled to Phan Thiet, Vietnam and donated laptop computers, over 1,000 books, and book shelves to an elementary school to support a computer room and library. During this trip, VietCorps also visited and donated gifts to two orphanages in Southern Vietnam.
- In the summer of 2023, VietCorps members travelled to Son Tay Village outside of Hanoi, Vietnam. We donated laptops, books, and book shelves to an elementary school in the Son Tay village. We also visited and gave monetary gifts to Peaceful Bamboo Family, a center in Hue that cares for young adults with disabilities (Eurasia-foundation.org/peacef

- Since 2020, VietCorps has implemented an English tutoring program in which our high school student volunteers in the U.S. are paired with students in Vietnam who wish to improve their English skills. Through this program, we have helped many students in Vietnam improve their English speaking skills and confidence.
